  • I would like to Nominate the “Black Rat” at Thackley/Idle for Cider/Perry Pub of the Year, they always have 2 Real Ciders or Perries on sale, these are always changing. At the moment there is “Mulled Wine” which is lovely.

    • Just took a look at the Black Rat FB page, There were four pictures of “cider” pump clips showing none of which were for drinks that can legally be called cider (one strawberry, one raspberry one mulled* and one “apple and pear” (the nearest to actual cider but it depends on the percentages)) should the cider pub of the year sell actual cider or made wine? Just asking the question.

      * mulled cider can only be sold as cider if it is mulled at point of sale. Adding mulling spices before this means it is made wine.

  • They are all Real Ciders and accepted by Camra, even Saxon Cider is now accepted by Camra, were you aware of that?
