Cricket

Bradford CAMRA C.C. has for many, many years been managed with unbounding enthusiasm by Josie & Dave Boothroyd. With the exception of a few weekends games are usually played on Sunday afternoons from April through until September.

Whilst it could be said the team has a nucleus of players any local CAMRA member who fancies a game is welcome to come along – Josie’s management skills are unquestionable when it comes to getting 11 players available each Sunday and regardless of your cricketing abilities I am sure you would enjoy the social event as a whole.

Home games are played at the ground of Idle Hepworth Cricket Club, Westfield Lane, Idle and usually 40 over matches. Captains vary each week – batting orders change and with few exceptions everybody will get a bowl with no more than 8 overs for any one bowler.

We have regular home & away fixtures against several teams in the York area together with one off fixtures against other CAMRA branches. Over the years fixtures have also included teams from the West Yorkshire Probation Service, Leeds University, The Brewery Tap Pub & Bowling Baptist C.C..

Whilst Josie’s fixture list is usually fairly well booked up prior to the start of the season we would always welcome hearing from any other CAMRA branch or organisation who fancy a game – travel to away games is not a problem within a 50/60 mile radius of Bradford and if nothing else it is a good excuse to try some of the local Real Ale although we do try and always have return matches whenever possible even if this alternates annually.

If you would like to take things further then please make contact with Josie Boothroyd by E-Mail or telephone on 01274-615483 to have a chat.…
